About me
I've always maintained the belief that there isn't just one way to deal with the issues affecting a person’s life. Having spent twenty years teaching and looking after the well-being of people I realised that individuals deal with problems in different ways. As a trained counsellor and hypnotherapist I feel I can help people manage aspects of their lives causing upset, such as: anxiety, stress, phobias or pain. With hypnotherapy a person's behaviour and life style can be altered by utilising personalised treatments to work on smoking cessation, confidence building and weight control. Clinical hypnosis then empowers individuals to make changes to those everyday actions and beliefs which they find hindering their lives.
My personal experience of hypnosis has proved beneficial, especially in creating a positive mental attitude and in dealing with phobias such as flying. Counselling is an extremely useful approach for many people, but hypnotherapy offers something different, which can sometimes create a quicker solution to issues at hand. Following a carefully structured first session of issue analysis and hypnotherapy many people notice a new optimism and improved self-esteem about themselves as well as a sense of relaxation.
With the correct training then a hypnotherapist is prepared to actively listen to their patients and understanding their needs, thereby creating an appropriate course of treatment through hypnotherapy to help bring about positive change.
I hold a Practitioner Diploma in Hypnosis and am registered with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHReg), and follow their code of ethics. All sessions are carried out in a confidential manner, with any notes or recording taken being accessible by the client on request.
I hold a Diploma in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) endorsed by The Guild of NLP (www.professionalguildofnlp.com). I also hold certificates in smoking cessation and weight control. I also have an MA in Coaching and Mentoring and have worked as a resident counsellor within the NHS. I am trained in Person Centred and CBT approaches to counselling, as well as a specialist in bereavement work. I am DBS checked and fully insured.
My specialities are smoking cessation, weight loss, pain control, phobias and fears, tinnitus, sports performance and confidence building, stress and anxiety management as well as a variety of other issues which hypnosis can be used for. For further details check out the treatment page.
